We had the pleasure to be on a real reenactment Event in North Germany, Schleswig Holstein.
It was the first of its kind, reenacting the battle of Suentana which was the last battle of the saxon warriors. Slavic warriors fought for Carolus Magnus, the Frankish King, whith the Franks against the Saxons and won.
The idea of reenacting the Battle evolved out of the plan to organize just a big fighting training in North Germany. One thing led to another and the organizers choose this battle because 798 ad it took place nearby (possibly). The hisorical texts are not quite clear.
We were there and in our opinion it was a successful event. Well organized and planed, save battles without injuries (except one), international clientel and the suggestions of the reeanctors were well and quickly implemented by the organizers (even from one day to another).
We will be there next year for sure!
